Global Youth Service Day is an annual campaign that celebrates and mobilizes the millions of children and youth who improve their communities each day of the year through service and service-learning. Please see link next for more information: http://www.gysd.org/
We Care Act will be continuing its annual "a month for making a difference" program by promoting service and having teams organize activities in China and the US. We invite youth from all around the world to join our effort in linking ourselves together by lending a hand to others in need!
Activities including:
1. Child Hunger Initiatives
We are organizing food drives and other fundraising activities. We are asking kids and teens to address child hunger in the United States and around the world. Please organize food drive, bake sale, or raise funds to help. Please click here for details
2. Bake Sale for No Kid Hungry - Help bake a difference!
Join the National Bake Sale Challenge Week (April 25 - May 1) where thousands are joining together to host bake sales in their communities to help end childhood hunger in America. Hosting a bake sale is a fun and easy way to raise funds to help make No Kid Hungry a reality. The Bake Sale Resource Center has everything you need to have a successful bake sale to end child hunger! Find templates for flyers and media alerts, stickers, tips for pricing your baked goods and taking excellent photos and much more. Sign up to host a bake sale or find a bake sale at http://bit.ly/15AMdBR
3.The Second Sichuan Earthquake, April 21, 2013
An earthquake measuring 7.0 on the Richter scale struck south-western Sichuan, China on April 21, 2013 and the number of victims is rising. Already, almost 200 people have been killed and many more are still missing. About 6,700 people are injured and the conditions are grim. Hauntingly enough, Sichuan is exactly the place where the 2008 Great Sichuan Earthquake occurred five years ago, which measured 8.0 on the Richter scale.
It's a cruel twist of fate that the same victims of the previous natural disaster must once again face the horrors of this seconds devastating one. Tens of thousands of people have no place to stay and no food to eat and are barely baring through each night. The response of the government has been helpful but the majority of the people are still struggling for basic necessities like food and clean water. They are in need of aid, so we must come together to help these victims. Please donate or organize activities to help them. We are contacting local organizations and would like to visit the kids in the affected area this summer and send/bring aid to those in need.
4. Conduct book drives to continue help students in Haiti and Sichuan, China.
We will send books to Sichuan on May 12th, the fifth 2008 Sichuan earthquake anniversary to continue to help the students there learn English with new material and resources
5. Promote awareness of Service, Global Youth Service Day, and Make a Difference Month through presentations and We Care Act wristband sale.
This activity can be conducted by anyone who is interested in leading activities. Please contact us and we will arrange to send our We Care Act wristbands for you to begin fundraising and selling them (will need adult sponsor). Funds will benefit Sichuan earthquake victims.
6. We will be visiting Sichuan China again this year,
and are bringing scholarships and workshops involving service learning and English learning to students there. We welcome your contribution and fundraising activities to help students there with their endeavors in English and service.
7. Any other activities you can do to help others, help our environment.

Introduction
We Care Act is proud to launch our "a month for making a difference" program that challenges youth and adults in our community to make a difference. The program invites youth from around the world to join our effort in helping others in need.
History
We Care Act's history roots in May, 2008, when millions became victims of the devastating earthquake in Sichuan, China. Our organization was further developed in April 2009, the Global Youth Service Day, when we obtained our first grant support (Disney Minnie Grant) from Youth Service America and organized activities in China and in the US.
In May 2009, 6 years old Alexander Miao and family visited Dujiangyan, Sichuanand and delivered our second set of donations to the students, after the initial visit and donations in August 2008 by Grace, Sharon, and Eric Li, founders of We Care Act.
In April 2010, we are celebrating Earth Day (April 22) and the Global Youth Service Day (April 23-25) by kicking off our Making A Difference Month and receiving the prestigious Harris Wofford Youth Award by Youth Service America.
In May, we will continue to help those we have helped in Sichuan, China, and extend our helping hands to the latest earthquake victims in Qinghai, China and the victims in Haiti.
Activities
- Another earthquake occurred in China (Qinghai province) on April 13, 2010. Children and adults were stuck under the debris in the frozen wind and rain, more than two thousand people died, and those survived need help—our help. Winni Zhang in Pearland, TX and Muyun Huang in Hunan, China are already taking actions and the students in Qingcheng Mountain High School in Sichuan, China are participating as well. These students in Sichuan are those who survived the Sichuan earthquake two years ago, and are still facing challenges. We are calling for help to collect donations for the Qinghai earthquake victims.
- Promote awareness of Service and Global Youth Service Day through presentations and We Care Act wristband sale. This activity can be conducted by anyone who is interested in leading activites and we will send the wristbands to you along with a flyer and a record form. Please join our team and email us at wca@wecareact.org.
- Conduct book drives to continue help students in Sichuan, China.
